I've been on a poetry kick and thus, have been reading some great poetry.  Through recommendation, I've been working my way through Philip Schultz's Failure, Natasha Trethewey's Native Guard, and Robert Hass's Time and Materials.

Philip Schultz won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for his poetry.  He is an amazingly talented man.  In this collection, my favorite poems so far are "It's Sunday Morning in Early November,"  "The Absent," and "The Truth."

Natasha Trethewey (also a Pulitzer Prize winner for Poetry) is also phenomenal.  "Graveyard Blues" paints a picture of loss and grief that will stay with me.  "Blond" will take you on a journey inside a little girl struggling with her identity.

With Robert Hass, one of my long-time favorites (and again Pulitzer Prize winner), "A Supple Wreath of Myrtle" depicts the life of Nietzsche in 12 lines.  "Mouth Slightly Open" depicts a beautiful scene.  I think my favorite thing about Hass's poetry is that he manages to capture, so clearly in a few lines a small bit of life.

These three poets come highly recommended.  If you have not yet read their work, you should check it out.
