I started reading Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones' Diary this week.  I know I'm late in catching on, since the movie has been out for a long time, but I had not yet gotten around to reading the book.  So far, I'm disappointed.  I feel that the main character, Bridget Jones is somewhat weak.  The fact that she talks about 130 lbs (I don't recall reading about her height in the book) being overweight disturbs me.  For a woman of the age 30, who is 5'10" tall, a healthy body weight is around 160 lbs.  For women who are 30 and are 5'4", target weight depending on body makeup varies between 115-150 lbs.  Muscle weighs more than fat, so women who are more muscular may weigh more than the "target" body weight.  I digress.  The point is, that Bridget Jones might be at a healthy weight.  This may give some women the wrong idea.  However, this obsession Bridget Jones has with her weight is something many women can relate to.  The book is entertaining, even if I'm not much a fan of the main character, and I'll most likely finish it this weekend.
