Indier Gray - Part 2
Sasha looked at the other children. She whispered, “Who is Indier Gray? Where are we?” Blake made another shushing motion with his finger.
Simon whispered back, “He’s scary.” Jessica nodded. Timothy began to wail. The harder he cried, the louder the humming sound got.
“You guys have to be quiet!” Blake said, “We don’t want him to come back. We don’t want the Fulz to get angry again. Remember what happened last time?” All the children nodded.
“What happened last time?”
“The Fulz…it…” Simon started. Timothy was shaking uncontrollably. One of the children who had been rocking with her eyes covered looked up suddenly. Her mouth was wide open as if to scream, but no sound was coming out. A giant hand surrounded her and lifted her up off the purple field of Fulz.
The humming now was so loud that the children all covered their ears. Sasha watched as the hand – disconnected from anything else, bright white, and as large as a hammock lifted the child up. Her legs kicked and she writhed about. Moments later, the hand and child disappeared.
“Where did they go?” Sasha looked at the other children, most had returned to crying, covering their eyes, or rocking.
“I don’t know,” Blake whispered, “But it comes anytime we make noise.”
“That’s right!” A voice boomed from behind them, “Children really shouldn’t ask so many questions. Ever hear of the saying ‘curiosity killed the cat?’ Now, my little darlings, if you remain silent nothing will happen to you.”
“I don’t want to remain silent! I want to know what you are doing with my friends!” Sasha screamed back.
“Little girl, I wouldn’t raise my voice like that if I were you. You’ll anger me.”
“So what!” Indier Gray appeared, as if from nowhere, his hand on Sasha’s shoulder.
“Sasha,” he whispered, “just be quiet, dear, or the Fulz will be the least of your problems.” All of the children trembled like leaves in the wind. “You really don’t want to find out where the hand takes them.”
“I just want to go home. I want us all to go home.” Indier Gray nodded. “Where are we?”
“That, my dear, is a question I
cannot answer in the daytime. You will
have to be quiet until nightfall.” With
that, Indier Gray left the children alone again. Sasha noticed, this time that it appeared as
if he floated off on some sort of device.
