One of the services I offer is dissertation and thesis editing.  What this service is not:  Rewriting sections of your academic work for you, writing sections of your academic work for you, etc.  Instead, I can help format the work to your school's specifications.  I can proofread the work for you, and I can make suggestions as to how you can improve the readability of the work.  When editing academic writing, especially a project as large as a thesis or dissertation you want to:
  1. Check all quotes - make sure every idea that is not yours has been documented in a footnote, endnote, and in the bibliography.  Sometimes all it takes for a problem with academic integrity is one mis-appropriated quote.  Be sure to double check attributions.
  2. Proofread for spelling and grammar.  You would be surprised at what your spell and grammar check will not pick up on.  Typos that look like other words cause many problems.
  3. Read for clarity.  Sometimes something that makes sense in your head seems garbled when it appears in your paper.
  4. Don't forget to check footnotes, endnotes, and your bibliography.
  5. Have someone else read and comment on your paper.  You'd be surprised at what you might miss.  I can provide this service for you.  To see a sample of what you will get with the academic service, please see the examples page for a PDF.
You should never turn in a paper that hasn't been proofread and copy-edited - especially at the graduate level.
